Manufacturer Spotlight: Phoenix Tapware

Phoenix Tapware, a leading manufacturer of luxury tapware, showers and bathroom accessories announces partnership with IGS to provide high-quality Revit content via the BIMcontent.com platform, streamlining and maximising access to Architects and Building Designers.

Responding to industry trends and customer demand, Phoenix Tapware partnered with IGS to develop a high-quality Revit (BIM) content library and to develop an effective specifier engagement strategy. The library currently includes 200+ Revit families available via BIMcontent.com and the Phoenix Tapware website.

Phoenix Tapware

As a market leader with close ties to industry-leading designers and Architectural practices, Phoenix recognised the growing trend of Building Information Modelling (BIM) workflows being used in project design and the increasing demand from specifiers for project-ready, data-rich BIM content from product suppliers. Phoenix also noted Revit as the most frequently used project design software among designers, the importance of Revit content being developed to best practices, and the specialised nature of Revit content creation. Phoenix chose IGS as their BIM content partner following recommendations from several specifier clients and IGS’s reputation as an Australian market leader.

With the conception of BIMcontent.com by IGS, Phoenix joined as a foundation partner to streamline access of its Revit library to the growing community of specifiers using the platform, and to utilise the website integration feature which ensures cross-platform consistency and optimal user experience when accessing the Revit content from the Phoenix website and BIMcontent.com.

About the Phoenix Revit Library

The Phoenix Tapware library is developed according to industry best practices. All families are created with attention to detail in areas such as Family and Shared Parameters, 2D linework, Origin Points, Family/Type Naming, Product Data Integration, Reference Planes, application of Materials, Classification, and File Size. In addition to Revit families, the Phoenix Tapware Revit library also includes a ‘Virtual Showroom’ (.RVT), loaded with all Families and Family Types. This Project File provides designers with an efficient way to browse the Revit library in its entirety, to view how the families document and schedule consistently in a Revit project environment, and as a sneak peek, the library will have a PBR materials update soon.

Further recognising and accommodating varying client preferences, the library is available to download in both Face-Based and Non-Hosted Revit family formats, and in multiple versions of Revit (2018-21).

“Phoenix Tapware has done a commendable job of evolving their Revit library strategy over an extended period. They’ve also been proactive in recognising the commercial benefits of providing specifiers with a great Revit content resource. The extent of the Phoenix library across so many product types and design options, and the fact that it’s available in both Face-Based and Non-Hosted Revit family formats, means it’s one of the most thoughtfully developed and valuable Revit content libraries of its kind in the market today.” – Luke Johnston, Managing Director at IGS Group

Partnership Outcomes

With BIMcontent.com having such a fast-growing user base, it presents a great opportunity for Phoenix Tapware to make their BIM content available via the platform and maximise industry adoption.

This is especially the case with Tapware and Bathroom Accessories, as Revit content for these kinds of fixtures is always in high demand. Moreover, for a company like Phoenix Tapware that has an extensive and dynamic Revit content library, having the content syndicated across both the BIMcontent.com platform and Phoenix website means any changes made to the library are immediately available to specifiers and consistent across both sites, which provides great operational benefits to Phoenix and a great service to Phoenix’s specifier customers.

Implementing the website integration feature of BIMcontent.com Phoenix has ensured designers can experience the same optimised search, preview, and download workflows on both the Phoenix website and BIMcontent.com. This includes the ability to preview the 3D Revit geometry in the web browser, view parameter data, download specific Revit versions of Revit content, and choose the type of Revit content download – Individual Revit Families, Product Range and Revit Format-based ‘Collections’, Revit Project File (AKA, ‘Virtual Showroom’) or even a one-click ‘Download All’ option.

Of the business impacts resulting from their BIM strategy to date, Phoenix has observed a range of benefits including their BIM content being used by specifiers in sales-generating projects, improved specifier engagement processes and the generation of significant goodwill among specifiers who are greatly appreciative of Phoenix’s investment in providing them with critical project design and documentation assets. Phoenix also sees the ability to analyse BIM content utilisation and engagement metrics through the BIMcontent.com platform as a key driver in quantifying ongoing investment in BIM and providing valuable business insights.
